Driving from Christchurch – the nearest International Airport- takes around 2 ½ hours. Leaving the airport, you drive North through the rolling hills of North Canterbury where you can stop and taste some of the beautiful wines made in this area. Once you climb over the hills of the Hundalees you find yourself winding along the breathtaking Kaikoura coast. The ocean off Kaikoura is part of a deep trench - home to Sperm Whales, dolphins, seals and albatross all year around as well as lots of other seasonal marine animals. It is also an amazing fishing ground where crayfish, abalone (paua) and large varieties of fish abound. Keep driving through Kaikoura as if you are heading to Picton. About 10 minutes north of Kaikoura you will see Factory Road. Turn right onto Factory Road, then right again onto Hapuku Road. You will see The Factory on your right.
Driving South from Picton takes just less than 2 hours. The first part of the drive takes you through the famous Marlborough Wine area. The second part follows the coastline where you experience the thrill of crashing waves on one side and dramatic mountains on the other. Look out for the seal colony on your left at Ohau. Driving over the Hapuku River Bridge, you turn left after 2.2 kilometres onto Factory Road. At the end of Factory Road, turn right onto Hapuku Road and you will find us on your right.
If you are using a GPS it is best to put in Factory Road, Hapuku as your destination. Our address was changed from 5 Old Beach Road to 5 Hapuku Road a few years ago and not all GPS maps are updated or correct.
We have a helicopter pad on the property if you wish to arrive by helicopter.
